The Ole Rugged Cross

The Ole Rugged Cross

Hi, Everyone!  Hope your week is going well.  It has been busy and non-stop for me, but a good one.  My stitches are healing and I am starting to feel much better after having my small surgical procedure on Thursday to remove the inflamed cyst that had been making me feel so bad.  Friday night Mr. Prince Charming and I sat up my booth space to be prepared for the Annual Amish Auction bright and early Saturday morning.  The weather was very corporative and couldn't have asked for a better September day in Oklahoma.   There was a great turn out and as always it is so nice to meet new friends and customers and catch up with returning ones.  I love to hear the stories of how they are using something they have purchased from me in the past.
Needless to say my big adventure this week has been trying to replenish and make new items to put into my booth for the upcoming show.  I will be at Sooner Trade Days located at the Durant Choctaw Casino starting Friday, September 20th thru Sunday, September 22nd.  Drop by for a visit and see what I have been working on.  I may even have a few items available to start your Christmas decorating or shopping.  ( I hear that Christmas is only 97 days away.)
I have started another exciting adventure this week that will be on going.  I am now a Proud member of Shabby Cottage Shops.  Shabby Cottage Shops is a great online shopping mall, go by and take a look at all the terrific shops.  I can't wait for all the new adventures that this will be bringing.  Totally EXCITED about all the possibilities!!!
Well enough of my rambling for today, I want to share with you The Ole Rugged Cross.  I have had this idea in my head for a while and finally went out and got the piece of old vintage ceiling tile that I had been saving just for this project.  Mr. Prince Charming looked at me like I had lost my mind.  He thought it was too rusty and in bad shape and that I shouldn't bother.   Sooooo..... I thought well maybe he is right.  (Shhhh....don't tell him I said or thought that!) I kept going back picking it up and looking at it.   Yeah, I thought I can do this, it is going to look AWESOME! Yes, it has ragged edges and it has lots of rust, and the paint is chipped.  But....you know what I always say " The more rust and chippy the better!"  I got out the sander and wire brush and went to town on the rust.  After getting it all cleaned up, Mr. Prince Charming decided that maybe I was right (he didn't say that out loud, but I know he had to be thinking it), cut a board to be placed behind it for me and helped me attach the cross.   I LOVE IT!!!  I think about the song we sing in Church about the Ole Rugged Cross when I look at it.  I think it turned out really cute, just the right amount of chippy and rust for the cross.  I would love to keep it for myself, but I have a friend that reminds, me all the time that you can't keep everything you make for yourself.   (Sigh)

A Shabby Chic Horse

Today, I am sharing with you a treasure, a friend found at a yard sale about a year ago.  A handmade hobby horse.  It was love at first!!! The minute I saw it, I knew that it had to be painted, distressed and she needed a shabtabulous mane and tail. I love the way she turned out.  Not too shabby! ;)

My wonderful Mr. Prince Charming helped me out with the sanding.

Here she is in all of her glory waiting for her new home and special little girl to love.  Paisley, my daughter, thinks that I should keep it.  She is a photographer and I think she is having visions of some great photo opportunities using this as one of her props.

Have a great week and I hope to see you Saturday at the 26th Annual Clarita Amish School Consignment Auction.

Wonderful White Wednesday

It's A Wonderful White Wednesday!

Today I am  sharing some of my latest white projects with you today.

I love making Memory Pillows.  Pillow is  made with two ruffles on outer edges only.  Edges are frayed.  The doily that was picked up at a flea market and I added buttons for details.  The upper corner is decorated with scraps of fabric tied into a bow, bits of lace with lace rolled rose and bling center. Inside the pocket, I have tucked my favorite vintage picture of my Great Grandmother Bessie. and a graphic image from The Graphic Fairy.  I didn't know my Dad's grandmother, but I often what she would think about becoming part of my branding logo and in so many of my projects.  What special items would you put in your Memory Pillow?

Large White Angel Wings have been cut from vintage ceiling tile.  The wings are so pretty hanging on a wall or sitting on a shelf.  Lots of versatile ways to display to add the perfect compliment to your shabby chic décor.

The frame was repurposed from a broken clock picture.  I replaced the broken glass and picture with chicken wire.  This makes the perfect memo holder with the clothespins that have been painted pink with some fluff and buttons.  Chicken wire also makes great bow holders for your little ones or use as a jewelry holder for yourself.  Possibilities are endless!

Flowers is the upper corner is a Vintage Shabby Chic Inspired Headband.  Includes 3 roses made from lace with a bling center on a torn and tattered doily with pink crinkle ribbon and string loops of pink seed beads.

Dimensional wings are also made from vintage ceiling tile.

Altered Books

 Book Makeovers

Marvelous Monday to you!  Hope that you had a great weekend.  We had a marathon work day on Saturday and then on Sunday, my Mr. Prince Charming, had to go back to work, so that left me rambling around on my own.  I have two shows coming up back to back, in just a few weeks.  YIKES!   Saturday, we spent most of the time cleaning and getting project ready to work on. Dust was flying from the sander and as usual I ended up with as much paint on me as my projects.   So I have several larger pieces now ready to begin repurposing.

Sunday I started working on a few of the books that I had torn off covers from and had them stained and ready to add the "charm".  I had found the perfect graphics from The Graphics Fairy that I wanted to use.  I printed them out and did a little bit of distressing and added to the cover before adding lace, flowers, tags, charms and torn tattered doilies.  I love the way they turned out.  They will be making their way to my website and booth space this week.

I will be linking up at Brag Monday with The Graphic Fairy.  Until next time!

New Products.

Magnolia Festival and New Products
Hi Everyone!

Hope your summer is getting off to a wonderful start.  I thought that I would share some pictures, that I took during the Magnolia Festival last week.  I had a wonderful show and met some wonderful new friends.

This is a picture of another one of my chicken wire mannies.  She turned out really cute!  During the process of her creation, she has ended up with me naming her Ariel.  She started out being much taller and had legs (or her lower portion) that reminded me of a mermaid.  During the course of adding all of her shabby vintage charm she was becoming top heavy and I ended up having to cutting off the lower portion to make her more stable.

I found the old window screens during one of my junking outings and  turned them into a display to hang some of my items on during the festival.  Really liked how things looked displayed on them.  I have been thinking about adding them to my decor somewhere in the house.  (Shhh.... don't tell my Mr. Prince Charming).  They were perfect to display some of my new metal letters.  If you look closely you can also see some of the smaller dimensional wings on the upper corner.

My Angel wings made from the old vintage ceiling tiles have taken on a whole new dimension.  I love the way they turned out and were a huge success.  I like the smaller ones, but have fell in love with the larger ones.  I will be making more of these soon to go into my booth spaces and Etsy Shop.

I had been getting lots of request to make vintage inspired headbands and hair clips.  So I have recently began making and offering some of the above Shabby Flowers for sale.  A few of them are actual pins that look awesome pinned to a hat or any accessory that needs that special WOW

There are other plans in the works for some more vintage inspired products.  I want to thank everyone that takes the time to follow me and all of the wonderful support and encouragement I get. I hope to continue to grow. The confidence that you show in me when asking me to make your special custom order means so much to me.

Spring Is Here

Happy Spring!

Spring is here, or so I think, it has been playing a lot of hidding go seek over the last weeks.  We get a few warm days, then back to cold and then it warms back up.  This week we received much needed rain, but I am so ready for warm weather to come and stay!  Ready for trips to the lake, planting flowers and my flip flops.

The birds are singing today and I noticed that the little bird that chooses to build her nest every year on the ceiling fan of my porch is back in her home.  I have no idea what kind of bird she is, but she keeps coming back home!  So in her honor, I have made a cute little bird nest in an old vintage coin purse to share with you.

This bird also loves Vintage Charm, she has worked hard to build her home in the vintage coin purse, with her vintage scraps of lace, sprigs of flowers (for a special pink touch), and the rolled sheet music.

Hope that everyone has a blessed and charming week ahead.

New Look

Kicking Up The Charm

As many of you know, I have a space rented at Creative Country in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.  Creative Country is just a few doors down from The Pink Pistol, which is owned by Miranda Lambert.  Both places are great places to shop!  I don't have a large space rented and I am having so much fun without the pressure of trying to keep up with a larger space.   I have been wanting to kick up the Charm in my space and with the help of my wonderful, Mr. Prince Charming, I think we did a terrific job of it.  Oh! I also had the help of my granddaughter, Rachel helping me out.

I had to go out of town last week for a conference and while out and about shopping, I found this awesome fabric at Hobby Lobby.  It was just screaming "Shell's Vintage Charm."  Don't you think?  So I bought all that was remaining on the bolt.

Frankie, aka Mr. Prince Charming, designed and built me a pergola type structure, and with a little bit of a shabby paint job it all came together and fit just perfect.  The shelves on the wall received a light coat of white paint.

A closer look at the painted shelves and the not so pretty wall behind them.

My little Rachel Bug is looking like she is starting to get a tad bit bored.  She was great help moving things around, painting and handing her Gramps boards.

What does every girl do when they get bored?  She decided to go shopping and bought her some rabbit ears.  She is proudly wearing her ears.

A look at everything put together and back in place with the wall lined in the material.  I am loving the way it looks!  Well.... except for the fact that my inventory is a low at the moment.  But that is a good thing!  Not only are things selling and moving out, I get to stay busy creating more Vintage Charm.

After the three of us working so hard and the weather was so beautiful we decided to treat ourselves to a picnic and relaxation at the lake.  The rest of the day was spent enjoying the sunshine and feeding the ducks.

A productive and fun filled day.   Hope that you have a charming week!

Shelley

Country Life

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a wonderful day.  I had the day off and enjoyed every moment of it.  I spent the day working on items for my booth space.  Not really sure that I really accomplished much, but I have lots of things started in various stages of completion.

The above picture was taken as a joke to send to my Mr. Prince Charming..... You might be a redneck if.... and to rub in the fact that I had the day off and he didn't. The picture turned out cute with Rachel's playhouse in the background and signs of spring.  I was tea staining some old napkins for a project and hung them out to dry on a sapling tree.  Stay tuned for the completed project with the napkins.

You can see some of my lastest completed projects on my Facebook page.

Every Love Story

Every Love Story
is beautiful
but ours is my
favorite
Hi Everybody,
Hope that you are having a wonderful and charming weekend.  Yesterday, I went to the Affair of the Heart with my Mr. Prince Charming.  He is such a good sport when I drag him around to these type of events.  Other than this, my weekend has been rather uneventful.  I glued the flowers and pearl strands on the window that I started last weekend.  Yes, just now getting back to it.
The window turned out really cute and shabby chic.  It would be perfect in any shabby chic home or wedding decor.  I can also see it being used as a photo prop.  Now that my daughter, Paisley has started a small photography business as a hobby in her spare time.  I am looking at things in a whole new light.  I enjoyed helping her set up some of her backdrops for some Valentine photos last week.  Drop by and check out her website at http://paisleysprintsphotography.weebly.com or look her up on Facebook.  Let her know her mom sent you by for a visit.

New Booth Space

Hi Everyone!

Hope your week is going good. It has been a crazy, busy and looooonnnnng week at work. A really nice hot bubble bath sounds like Heaven at the moment. (sigh)

I thought I would share my new booth space with you today.  I have moved my inventory out of The Mix in Ada and have moved into Creative Country in Tishomingo.  I LOVE it there!  There really is something there for everyone.  Not only all the great items available to purchase, everyone is so friendly and nice.

I have a small spot and things are going wonderful there, so I have been kicking around the idea of expanding my booth space and at the same time thinking of keeping it small and cozy.  Frankie and I went in on Saturday and he helped me measure.  My wonderful Mr. Prince Charming is thinking of building me some awesome display stuff.  So I need to make up my mind, so we can get started!!!

Been dreaming all day long of some new fun things I am wanting to make and add to my space.   So I am off to get Crack-a-lackin

Vintage Baby Wreath

Hi Everyone!  Hope that you have enjoyed your weekend.  I know that mine went by way too fast!!! I didn't do much crafting this weekend.  I made this wreath as a custom order for a friend.  I hope that she will like it.  I have loaded it down with baby pink and off white tulle.  Made 3 rolled roses out of ribbon and added a crown for the little princess.  I then added a vintage baby shoe and silver rattle.  I love the vintage silver baby rattle!!!  It is so sweet, has a little dent in it too add that extra vintage charm and the sweetest little tinkle when it is rattled.

Linking up with Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound.  Drop by and visit and be inspired by all the beautiful pink links.  Love everything PINK!!!

Favorite Displays

Hi Everyone!

Hope that you are all doing well?  We have been hit with the flu bug here in the Prince household, both myself and Mr. Prince Charming.   It certainly has not been fun!  Finally starting to feel like a human again, I realized today that I have not left my house since coming home from work sick on Thursday.

I was so thankful that today was a holiday and I got the day off from work.  Feeling much better, I have spent most of the day playing in my craft room.   I will have some new handmade inventory to share with you soon.  I am have made the decision not to renew my vendor contract at The Mix in Ada, OK and will begin moving out of my space there this week.  I am, however, looking forward to concentrating more on my booth space at Creative Country in Tishomingo.  I will once again be offering some of my Vintage inspired Baby Onesies and other children accessories that has previously only been available either at craft shows or on my Etsy site.

I have been rearranging and redecorating (or should say in the progress of) since taking down all of the Christmas decorations.  A few months ago I bought new furniture and painted.  I am loving my new furniture and fresh clean painted walls.  I didn't want to put up my old wall hangings that have been up forever so I have been slowing taking away and adding new.

I really love things that are old or have a vintage feel.  I have been trying to  incorporate as many family heirlooms as possible in my new decor.    I ended up with two empty spaces in the living room.  In one corner I put a vignette of the doll carriage that I found while out scouting for treasures.  It is still one of my favorite finds.  I put my favorite picture of my Great Grandmother in it along with a pair of vintage baby shoes, old wrap with flowing fringe and some pink spring flowers.

The other space I moved the antique sewing machine that belonged to Frankie's Grandmother and added a vintage quilt made by my great aunt. The button jar also belongs to my aunt.

Love the colors that the quilt adds to the room.

I have only opened the button jar once since I have had it.  I just pick it up and shake it around to look and enjoy the different items inside.  One day while shaking and looking I noticed a button shaped like a crown.  I decided to open up the jar and look at the button.  I have really enjoyed the button jar.  There is such an amazing variety and I like to image what kind of clothing they must have came off of.

HEARTS

Hi Everyone!  Hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and your New Year is off to a "Charming" start.  I spent my New Year's Eve quietly at home with my Mr. Prince Charming and my granddaughter, Rachel.  I had time to reflect on 2012 and setting new goals for Shell's Vintage Charm. It has been a wonderful year and full of learning experiences and I can't wait to implement and work toward the goals and all of the challenges in 2013.    Thank you all for you support and encouragement along the way.  I couldn't have made it without you!

Now for the fun stuff!  I have been making hearts and thought I would share.

Bessie's Heart

This is one of my favorite vintage pictures and I find myself using it all the time. The picture is my Great Grandmother, Bessie known to everyone in the family as Granny Tilton. I love the wistful look in her eyes and wonder what she was thinking at the time this picture was taken.   She was my Grandpa's mother and I have heard many stories about her.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.  Until next time.......

Stay "Charmed".
