Tutorial for Raised Stencil Design on Cabinet Door

I made a raised stencil design on the cabinet doors for the Vintage Camper. After receiving several questions on how I made it, I thought I would doing a tutorial. 

Materials need:
Wallboard Joint Compound
Putty Spatula
Stencil
Cabinet Door

Place your stencil design of choice on the cabinet door. 

 

Next take a glob of the joint compound on your spatula.

Spread your joint compound over the stencil.

 

 

Lift stencil straight up to remove the stencil. You will now have your stenciled design. 

 

 

I wanted a little more texture on the door, so I randomly placed more of the joint compound around the design.

 

 

Let dry completely.  Sand. if desired, to knock some of the rough edges.

 

 

You are now ready to paint as desired.  I used a gray base coat of homemade chalk paint. 

 

 

After the base coat has completely dried.  I added an off white paint to highlight.  I used a dry brushing technique, but left the paint a little bit heavier on brush. 

 

 

 

Distress and wax to complete, as desired.

 

 

I love how easy this is to add a design to a surface.

Sweet Caroline made her Grand Debut

After a few set backs, and months of hard work, blood, sweat and tears, my dream is finally taking shape and seeing the efforts of all our (got to give my Prince Charming, his fair share of the credit, too) work.  We still have a few things that we need to do, like the counter top, but all and all she is at least presentable and we were able to use her.  We finally had a Grand Debut with her this past Saturday, during A Touch of Rust in Stillwater, OK.  Although, I do plan to use her as part of my mobile boutique, I didn't put any inventory to sale inside on this trip. I think that she was a success and she had lots of traffic, coming and going out of her little door.

We are getting so ExCiTeD!!!  Sweet Caroline is getting closer to being finished and ready for her Grand Opening during our show venue, A Touch of Rust, in Stillwater, OK on June 20th. 

 Sweet Caroline has such a long ways since her make over journey began and we can't wait to show you all of her new "Charm." We did briefly introduce her during The Chicken Farm Vintage Barn Sale in Jones, OK. The final reveal is getting closer and we could not be happier!!!

Ms. Em Turns One

It is so hard to believe that my little Emberlynn is already one!!!  We celebrated her first birthday on March 29 th and her actual birthday was on the 31st.  Just seems like yesterday that I was anxiously awaiting her arrival.  Paisley had her and awesome party and the decorations were so cute.  She made a cute little lemonade stand for photo props.  Shhh....don't tell her this but I think she may have a little bit of her mom in her blood.  LOL.

Painting Ceiling Tile For Caroline

I actually got to do something fun for Caroline the Glamper today.  I actually painted the vintage ceiling tile for her ceiling.  It made me feel like I was finally getting to see progress in the real deal instead of just images in my head.  I am getting so excited but a little worried too, as time is ticking on her first show schedule.  Check out Caroline the Glamper's page, I heard from a little birdie that she has updated her page.  

Our First Show of 2015

ExCiTeMeNt is brewing!!!!   It is getting so close to our first show of 2015.  Only 18 days away!!! Hope you are making plans to attend the  Junk Hippy Road Show at McAlester, OK on Saturday, February 21st at the Southeast Expo Center.

Hard to believe that January has already flown through and gone, but I am getting excited for show season to began. I think, I about have my show schedule booked and in place for 2015 (Of course, it is possible that I might add a few more along the way.) I only have one application out that I have not heard from at this time and it is in December, so hopefully, I will hear from it soon and can get it all set in stone.   I am trying to leave a few months of summer open this year for some family time and of course getting in lots of junking along the way.  Our show schedule is posted on the side bar so be sure to mark your calendars. 

Going to be and exciting year, as we will be bringing Caroline, the Glamper, along with us at a few of these shows.   In fact, her big deput is scheduled in April at Junk Rodeo.  I can hardly wait to get her finished and ready to roll in all her Vintage Charm glory.
